[2015 Musical] The Cat That Lived A Million Times Announcing Conference + TV Promo (Nonstop!)

This conference happened on 6/29 in Japan. I didn't update sooner, because I had been held up with some music stuff :P
Here I am now~
This is a very long post (took me an hour), enjoy!

The musical starts on 8/15 , 2015:
8/15-30 at Tokyo Play House
9/4 at Honda no Mori Hall
10/2-4 at Osaka - Theatre- Brava!

A Video first! (they're the same one- from Horipro one is Tudou one is Youtube - in case Tudou doesn't load)

Honestly, as a (part-time) musician/composer, I always find Fukakyon's singing skill unstable. I have the exact same problem- mostly good, but some times slightly off tune. It's not that she doesn't sound good (frankly, her voice quality is quite great), rather, sometimes she's off tune by less than half a semi tone. I still love her music performances, though. In my opinion, she's better than many other Japanese singers.

In the interview,

she was grateful of the opportunity to do a musical, which she had never done before. She's really appreciative of all the interesting people she's working with now. She is really happy about being able to act in this role.

She said that she really loves cats (if you watched DB, you'll know: She actually loves cats lol but ended up getting a dog. I felt like it was the influence of her friends (including Domoto Koiichi)) so she's really excited about being able to act as a cat (she also is that type of person that want to become whatever she loves - she once said she wants to cosplay as Melon Pain/Bread (her dog's name "Pain" means "bread" in French and Japanese Uses it.).

(I feel kinda bad at this moment for celebrities though... as she's talking, you can hear camera constantly in the background and I am sure there are a bunch of video cams pointing at their direction. She's probably used to it now, but years before, she used to stay REALLY quiet and not able to talk naturally on screen.)

She said that when people make the effort to come to see the musical/them, it motivates her to work harder.

Towards the main actor - Song Ha. She complimented him on acting skills (+how hard he works on acting and put in all his efforts). When she's nervous, her shoulders tensed up, he did that gesture when she said "pon pon" to her shoulders to help her relax up a bit. She has fun acting with him.

Personal interview:

She said she doesn't have much chances to sing in front of people, from now on she'll have to present this musical to the audience, so she feels that she must work hard and take it seriously.

Commenting on the music- she feels that the songs and melodies are quite unique/weird and the instrument arrangements are interesting. She'll be playing that mini piano she had on hand in the video (when she was singing). She feels that when she has an instrument with her, she feels less nervous than just singing (really?! O_O). The songs have great charm, after she saw it, they stayed in her head.

Do you usually play piano? She said at home she'd play the musical's songs and practice at home. (HAHAHA , so cute :D ).

She look forward to the training- she wants to do that sooner, because she had never presented anything in this way (as a musical). She would have to invite everyone to come and see them (live). It's a new feeling for her. She really wants more people to come and watch them.

Her natural self is still there~ when asked if she has any worries for her first musical performance: She said that maybe because it's her first time, she doesn't know what to expect/ worried about. she is still at the stage where she is trying to figure things out "Ah, that's how you do this, that?" So she looks forward to training and acting everyday.

Last question is on whether she can imagine the first day/start of the musical? She answered that she can imagine everyone else, but she can't see herself acting as the cat yet. Today, too, I can see everyone's face.

On the news program - Nonstop! (ノンストップ!)
Video starting at 17min :

She said it's her first time so she works hard to start from the foundation.
then the program replayed her debut picture and first major drama role (God, Please Give Me More Time), then her first big movie - Shimozuma no Monogatari. Also showed her as a spy in Joker game (most recent movie). It' actually kinda sad that she's not able to come up with more classics...she's been on first line as an actress for so long, but she's limited by her pretty face and her script choices.

She said that she never really had time to do any training. For TV drama, it's always like she had to get into character as soon as she receives the script. (O_O that's why... I think she does need training. the company probably hoped that she'd get better through non-stop acting in TV and film.. this training for musical could actually be great for her future acting.)

When asked what similarities she has with the main character (not the one she act as). She said she wants to be more direct/frank/honest with her emotions. She can't be straight forward when it comes to love (oh, God. My translation...). She said for marriage, if she met her true love, she would get married. However, at this point in the near future, she is not considering it. She stressed that it's not that she hasn't thought about it, it's just at this time point.

How she pictures herself in 10 years. She just hope that she is happy 10 years later. She doesn't have anything specific in mind like whether or not she's still an actress, married, has kids? She would just like herself to feel happy at that point.

btw, at the end of her appearance , the sweet tweets:
"Fukakyon is a beauty, as usual (smile)"
" Fukakyon so cute~ if I can live again, I want to be Fukakyon~"
"Fukakyon is cute, Okuba san (this guest speaking on the show) is cute, too-!!"
"I think having self-determination is quite wonderful."

Then the program complimented her on her Photobook (do the proper promo, guys~!).

Conclusion
I really wanna go see her... but I am tied down by my rotation which starts next month (I know, again). Then I'd have to even move onto Vancouver Island... *sigh* not easy being a pharmacist...
Go see her if you're in Japan :)

Sore Ja~
Bye Bye~ ★

  1. Wow! thank you thank you so much for translating those videos. Fukakyon is gorgeous as always even when she sings. I wish I could see her musical as well but I also lived on the far side of the earth though not that far, but I am planning on going to Tokyo and Kyoto on December, I just hope that they'd extend the show till Dec.

    1. You're very welcome :). I tried my best to translate. Never had any real proper training on Japanese.
I, too, hope that they extend the show to December. I might have a better chance of going to Japan at that time. She'll probably have a new drama soon, though. Since she said she's putting work first and she hasn't really had any breaks during her career. Hopefully this musical proves her acting can be great when she wants it to be. If it's critically acclaimed, her career will go back up. If all else fails in Japan, I felt like she could work in a Chinese film like Nagasawa Masami did. Kyoko chan's popularity here is like legendary lol. (plus, there's good money) - ok, mainly because I want to see her and Kaneshiro Takeshi together again...
